A while back…
You might remember that I toyed with the idea of doing a behind the scenes video…well while this is not that, this is a kinda of behind the scenes video…but then again not really…you get the picture :)
so I could go crazy and ramble on and on about various things…however I am not going to – so enjoy the video and here is today’s photo :)
Not been shooting….
So I cant remember the last time that I actually decided to go shoot something interesting for me, I have been shooting things that I have to but not that I want to – huge difference. So maybe I can get back to basics and go looking for some creative juices to flow…
As this storm rolled through I quickly grabbed my camera and took off to try to capture something out of it. I ended up 2 minutes from house (that two minutes was a flat run) and setup to find this dramatic moving of the clouds. I was hoping the storm would slow down and give me more time to setup and shoot but it did not. I often at times like to study the scene and what is going on and then setup at various angles and positions taking a wide variety of shots. This was a holy smokes!!! Just shoot! Here is what was captured….
Exciting New Year?
So are you one of those people that do New Years Resolutions? I am not, I never keep them is why. What is your resolution this year?
Today’s Photo – Love Field…
I can tell you for sure that there was absolutely NO LOVE for this field! This place was full of shady people and the most annoying mosquitoes that were the size of eagles. These things were literally flying around EVERYWHERE I cant count the amount of bites I got while trying to get something. What I was wanting was to get some plane trails as this is the landing path at an airport. However while waiting I saw the moon and really liked the scene so I walked over got setup and was shooting this when three planes flew over that I missed. I got so chewed up from the pesky mosquito’s that I said forget it and packed up and ran back to the car.
Have you ever…
Have you ever just looked around and thought – yeah it is time…
Now that can be interpreted in many ways – some people might relate this to their job, some might relate it to their exercise habits, some might relate it to eating habits, drinking habits, relationships, the car they drive, the time they get up in the morning, the time they spend with loved ones the list goes on and on and on. I challenge you to figure out what if any you are saying this with.
So today, you get two photos taken after Christmas when we were getting ready to take down the Christmas tree. I was itching to shoot something since I have not shot in a long while, so I grabbed my Macro lens and shot these two. I really enjoyed them, I was using one as a wallpaper for a while but had to move on to something else since it is not Christmas any longer. I love Christmas – is it here yet again?? If you would like a full res of this for a wallpaper just shoot an email or leave me a comment :)
Today’s Photo – Ghost of Christmas Past?
Ok, well not really…but thought that it was a clever title :)
My youngest son and I went out Christmas light looking – this old bridged seemed like a great thing to shoot until the rush of others came across it. But while that was happening I got a vision in my head (not that of sugar plums silly) and this photo is the result of that. This is a way over done extreme edit that I dont normally go except certain situations and this is one of them. Feel free to leave a comment. Where is the snow and junk???
So it is Christmas, but here in Ohio someone has forgotten to tell mother nature that we would like to have some snow and stuff…I really love this time of year and with it I would really like to have some cold and snow. I love hot fires in the buck stove, looking outside and seeing snow and frost – all things that go with Christmas time. I am going to do something a little different today and post a couple shots in here you dont mind do you?
Today’s Photo – Christmas Wonderland
There is this great historic place called Clifton Mill that most people from this area know about. Me and my youngest son went there last night and had a great time. We got there early and it was rainy so we waited for it to stop and then went in. Though we should have checked the website first – the lights dont come on until 6pm my idea was to get there early and take dramatic shots of the clouds etc – well that was completely foiled. I am going to have to talk with them really nicely and see if I am able to get them to turn them on early just for me :-D. So anyways the two shots – one of the “program” they hand out and one of the mill and lights. I love going to this place and will back again to shoot more of it. Also as a reminder you can click on any of them images to go to my portfolio and see larger sizes.
Today’s photo – Christmas Lights
While shooting with my buddy Jeremi we came across this great scene. So as I shot this he decided to shoot this happy couple on their two week anniversary…now one part of me says – wait he was shooting something that can make him money and I shot only this…but then I look at it and think – I hope someone buys this to hand on their wall :)
I think that this one looks so much better than than the Nations tree in Washington which I got to see while traveling as well. Thoughts?by Chris Lehman with 2 Comments
So randomness is something that when you write you grow accustomed to. Though sometimes the randomness gets a little bit to random to make sense out of the random thoughts that often come out randomly… see what I did there – totally random….carry on :)
Today’s Photo – Dark of the night
All so often I look for very dramatic scenes. Clouds, sunrises, sunsets, rain etc. All to often this makes me pass up a lot of good shots that I would not normally take. I remember going to shoot this church and I was rushing to find it and beat the sun going down on me. When I got there there was a wedding that was finishing and I had to wait or crash the wedding…
So I had beat the sunset, there were not any dramatic clouds or anything and I sat there getting uptight about the sun going down while waiting on the wedding to clear out I thought to myself well this is going to stink, I made it here, beat the sunset, ready to shoot and now I am watching the sun go down, blue hour quickly fading and I am not going to get to shoot this awesome place.
So after the wedding cleared out I walked around looking at different angles seeing if I could actually get any decent shots. I came up with this one and I am glad that stuck around to shoot it even though it was not what I had planned.by Chris Lehman with No Comments

Today’s photo – Star light star bright
So this photo – I remember really well. It is special to me because I actually was out shooting and drug my mom out with me. She was more excited than I was I think to be out and spending time together. She never complained or rushed me for time and we enjoyed making jokes and talking and also shooting photos of this and that. I made this to look as painterly as I could but still keeping enough in there to show some detail. I always want to learn to shoot new things and this was the first time that I shot the stars in a landscape. I cant wait to get out and shoot this type of thing again.

Today’s Photo – Thankful
We are in the season of one of the most iconic celebrations in the world – Christmas. And as I reflect back on Christmas it makes me think of the most iconic event to many folks – Easter. I remember going to the cemetery where many of my family is resting – kind of morbid and sad I know – but it is a part of life that no one can escape.
So enough of that – this photo is a reflection of Thanksgiving to me – I am thankful for it – are you? I remember sitting there framing this shot and I noticed something very unique – what do you see? Is it the same thing that I see? Leave a comment, if it is correct you will be entered in to the drawing for a free print as stated above :)by Chris Lehman with 10 Comments
Yikes – Sorry about that!
Well, I kind of lost track of posting daily photos…the last few weeks have been crazy to say the least. However I am back now and hope to get a few in the queue and ready to post. Holidays trip up everyone’s time – I will try to get back on posting dailyish <----- yes that is a made up word by Moi :)
Today’s Photo – Life is Good
So me and my buddy Jeremi decided to go out and shoot at night the other night and shoot…well I decided to go and nudged him in to coming with me. We went to a near by outdoor shopping center where they had decorated for Christmas (my tied for first favorite time to shoot) which I will post some of later. While we were walking around and shooting there was a guy walking around that asked us a number of questions and asked if it was okay to shoot us – I dont recall his name though I do have it in my iPhone (note to self Chris – Email dude)
Anyways I am way off on a tangent here, so I was setting up to shoot a shot had my tripod and camera mounted in the middle of the street shooting and on the last shot a car came down the road (the nerve of them!!!) and I had to pull the tripod mid shoot of a long exposure that made it look crazy. Anyways I got back to the sidewalk and setup for this shot that I thought was going to be meh – you be the judge. I originally thought that it would look great in full color as I usually like popping colors. But I just felt like this one should be BW and so I did the unthinkable and converted it. I might post the color version as well at some point. Anyways – here is the shot, hope you enjoy.by Chris Lehman with 3 Comments
Today’s photo – Green Bridge
Not much to say today – it is currently quiet time for me and I trying to figure out what to do with myself….
I am lost for words this time…
This normally doesnt happen, I am usually able to pop something out except for when I am sick or have a made a mistake (which I dont tend to handle well – whose with me???)
Which is it this time??? You figure it out :)
While working in Austin on a Sunday, I took off for a few hours to get some relax time in – I had been working there all and on the road for a while and really needed to relax. I put on the headphones and went off to this super secret place that a good friend of mine recommended, the vast array of things that I was able to shoot there was just awesome. This is not a typical Chris shot, but hey who says I only have to shoot one style or one thing?? It is about “Capturing the Moment” – that is kinda my tag line for many things that I shoot.
Anyways – does anyone know what kind of flower this is? And does anyone see anything in the photo that doesnt pop out?? Yeah hidden nugget go find it!!by Chris Lehman with No Comments
Behind scenes coming soon!
Well, if you remember a few post back I was toying with the idea of doing behind the scenes videos of the shoots. I did a really quick attempt at this just to see how it went and if I would enjoy doing. It was quite fun! Next time I will get a bit more in to the details of the technical aspect of what I am shooting etc. However this was just some fun (again at least I think it was fun) Chris banter – and there is even a special guest start that joins me – one of my sons! Who is not looking forward to this??
Well, in other exciting news I am really looking forward to getting to do some photo travel here real soon! Just added to the list is New Orleans – that might be an achievable mark off the list as it wont be as expensive as say Hawaii. In case you missed it I have a “ Future Locations List Here that I keep adding to – just added to it this week (thanks Cindy!!) and it will keep getting added to as well as getting marked off when I visited a place. I will most likely visit all these places multiple times should I get the opportunity.
Today’s Photo – Fall Pond
So Fall is one of my absolute favorite times of the year to shoot – so you would think that I would be busy shooting like mad during this time right??? Wrong, this year I barely got out to shoot during fall. I did get out one night to shoot at a park that my grandmother used to take me to. As I walked around take photos of this and that I must have gotten asked 50 times if I had seen lost dog. Unfortunately I did not and never did see it that night – I hope that he made it home ok.
So this photo as I walked around I just saw very painterly. It looked to me as if I would see this hanging on the wall at my grandmothers house a painting, so that is the look that I went for – hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it :)by Chris Lehman with 1 Comment
Been crazy busy!!!
So I have not been able to post anything in a while, I have photos there to post just have not had time to post them. This is normally how I do this –
Take photos, dump them, pick one off to edit, upload to my gallery awaiting posting. Then I will go in and write a blog posting with a picture that I am feeling like posting (you lost yet?? Good hang in there) and the I schedule that to post at a certain time which also post to twitter for me. Today is the exception as I am writing this one live, today in the flesh.
So now that you are all totally confused and have listened to me ramble I shall get on with today’s photo.
While in Austin one night I went out with a group from G+. We went to all different places, in and out of bars listening to local music and just having a great time. We walked in to this little bar that had some music going, and as I listened all I heard was “screaming”. Now I am a fan of all kinds of music – this week I have remembered a lot of songs that I thought I had forgotten but not really forgotten – yeah that made sense…however this type of “screaming” I am not a fan of. However seeing the music being played and the musicians creating this noise (to me this is noise and I dont understand the music behind it) it was fun to see them talk between songs and then turn on the scream for the song. This was the guitarist and the lead vocals, I made the lead look as scary as it sounded in there(yes, you get two photos today :)).
