      Few and Far
Hello all, been out and about doing some traveling and a small amount of shooting. Mostly just spending time with the kids :). I had very scarce internets and it was so nice to unplug from everything and just relax. Though I have to admit I killed a lot of phone batteries trying to pick up a signal. Hopefully I will have a few shots to share with you when I get back.

      The right feel
I had a conversation with a friend of mine that mentioned he loves photography but doesnt like HDR. He mentioned that it just does not feel right to him and that editing is where it happens.

I agree that editing is important though I obviously like my HDR :) What do you like? What feels right to you?

Today’s Photo – Sunset in the Mountains
I was in the place we were staying and my father came in and said – have you seen the sunset? I said nope, I looked out and saw this gorgeous sunset, though I was not prepared to shoot anything and had no location to shoot I grabbed my tripod and camera bag and raced out the door and into the truck. By the time I got settled sunset was almost gone and this is what was left…

      New style
I am hoping to revamp the site with a new style, I apologize in advance if I muck it all up :D
If you check in and notice that things have switched around, dont get used it! I might switch it 10 times before finding a good one that I like…

      Today’s Photo
After shooting what seemed like an eternity of a wedding with my buddy Jeremi we both came to unwind and pack gear up, download photos etc. We were shooting a top a great place in Dayton Ohio The Racquet Club. This place is awesome on all sorts of levels ans has probably the best view of the city. This was the first time that I had been up there. We put all of our gear in a room that was awesome in itself, but the view of the city was awesome. So we killed the lights, and setup the tripods after getting all of our gear back out again…this is one that I came up with.

This is from Crosby’s shrimp company in Charleston South Carolina. This was the first time that I really shot anything more than a snap shot from Charleston and think that it was a great trip. I am planning to go back there on a photography only trip.

What is going on with me
So the past week or so, I have been looking at things different. I have been going around shooting things that I normally would not even look at, get to post and really like the shot (of course this is why I post them, dont post if I dont like). Today’s shot is a clear example where I just plain would not have really considered shooting it, looked, thought hmmmmmmmm…and shot. This is what happened after the shutter closed…

He is a off the wall rambling
So when I process – sometimes I want silence, sometimes I ask others questions, sometimes I just put music on and get lost in it. My music is a wide variety from classical, to Roy Orbison, to Mona, Eminiem, Snow Patrol, coldplay to name a few. Who do you think that I was listening to while processing this one?

      Shooting a lot lately!
So I have been shooting a lot lately, not of what I normally shoot, however I have been have a ton of fun with it. I have shot everything from Weddings to remote control airplanes to babies however I have not shot ANY landscapes or HDR as of late??? I might have to get back to that real soon.

      Suggestions??
As I am trying to build this – whatever it is and whatever it is to become – if you have suggestions of things you would like to see shot please feel free to let us know. I cant say that I will take the exact shot if you are detailed, however I will entertain and try to shoot my best a subject matter or location. I never take a shot that someone suggest if they are detailed to it, I would rather get inspiration from hearing a location or subject and then shoot that as there are no expectations to meet. I also like to find things that most people would not think to shoot and try to make that artistic.

Today’s Photo – The looking Glass
This is one that I really want to go back and take again. After looking at it and processing it I really have other ideas for shooting. I cant wait to get back and shoot this location again – in case you are not sure it is Folly Beach – South Carolina.

I want to hear from you
I always like to hear your thoughts, I get a lot of feedback on my photos – mostly good, some bad (which is okay, I like to hear those as well), but most of this is in person or via twitter, text etc. We have comments setup here at the blog feel free to use that as well to communicate with me or leave thoughts. I assure you that I read every single one of them.

What is your favorite kind of photography?
For me, I use to just love pictures of all kinds, then I moved to landscapes, then I moved to HDR, and suddenly I now have a love for all photography again. I am finding myself really liking to shoot things that I would not normally shoot like the past two days photos. I am also liking portraits a lot lately. I find that it breaths new life in to the creative mind when expand our own minds to look at that which we normally would not. That sounded complicated didn’t it? I will rephrase –

Did get caught with your head up your @$$ and dont be a snob and linear in your thinking :)

      The End is Drawing Near
I believe that end of blogging is drawing near, I have posted quite a few shots and it is enjoyable, however writing a tidbit here and there I can do without. I will keep taking photos and most likely posting them, however banter about this and that I believe will cease – and of course I cant commit 100% to this statement, it is just how I am feeling right now :)

      Today’s photo
So here is another shot from my garden. I really just started playing around and taking shots of the water hitting the plants etc. Yesterday’s post was one of the shots I took, however today’s is another of a different kind. It is the same shot, but different.

So spring is gone, summer is here (not officially, but you get my drift :))

I never seem to be able to catch the rain when it rains, though I have always wanted to. Always afraid of getting my gear wet etc, I end up watching from the window or sleeping through it. After taking this shot it let me know without a doubt that I really like shooting other things that I normally dont shoot.

      Selective Coloring?
So what is your view of selective coloring? I usually do not like it for the most part. There are a few that I think look good, but not very often.

      Another video??
Did anyone enjoy that video about in the last post of the D800 vs 5D III? I thought about posting another, however it was not ear friendly…
However since I am a fan of music, I will post this one that has absolutely nothing to do with photography at all, but was kind of cute…

Today’s photo – help me identify this little guy…
I found this little fella out by the playset. I have no idea what it is and never have I seen one again. A moth of some kind I think? I can remember looking at him and thinking – hmmmm…what in the world is this thing? I went and consulted the google but quickly gave up. I chose selective coloring on this one for no other reason than I just wanted to :)

      Who actually read these??
So part of having a blog, it makes me curious if anyone reads my banter, just looks at the picture or neither?? Feel free to leave questions/comments/concerns – good/bad/ugly – what have you :)

      Coming soon??
So I have been toying around (salivating is more like it) on getting rid of my two current Canon cameras and getting a 5D III (Canon of course!). Not that there is anything wrong with Nikon, but all my glass is invested in Canon, so I really dont want to start over at this point….

Here is a great debate over current top dogs –

Nikon D800 vs Canon 5D Mark III

      EitelJorg Museum
This is the front of the EitelJorg Museum in Indianapolis Indiana. I was in town for the weekend to go to the great Indy 500. While there my host took me downtown to shoot the canal and this place was right by where we were shooting. This is from the front looking towards the street and the largest Marriot hotel around.

So, a couple weeks ago I went to the Indy 500, you would think that I would come back with a ton of race car photos right?? Well, not this guy. Though I did shoot at the track, it is not something I normally shoot and need more practice. But while there I did get to go in to the city and shoot a few shots. This is one of them :)

Traditionally in photography you are supposed to shoot the faces of the subjects to capture the emotion, though when I saw this I took it knowing that I was breaking the “rule” – they are made to be broke at times, and I feel that this was and is one of them.
