I was at a G+ photo walk the other night – my first one ever! I was so excited. Everyone there was awesome! Nothing like seeing a million tripods and shooters around all shooting. So we were going to shoot sunset of a pretty rad spot in Austin which we did, however as people were shooting I took out my 7D (GASP – I DID NOT USE MY 5D2 EXCLUSIVELY!!!) and shot this one. I normally dont shoot people or Silhouettes so I really liked how this one came out :)by Chris Lehman
Well, Since my buddy Jermi lent me the 100mm I had planned on shooting my watches…but with Spring here I am becoming reliant on this piece of gear – it really makes shooting easy :)
This little guy is in the side yard and was calling to be shot – so I shot it :)
This is another non-typical Chris shot but one that I ended up liking. I will be getting back to shooting some HDR stuff real soon I hope.by Chris Lehman
One of my favorite artist is Ansel Adams – I know I am not alone in this. His eye and captures are mind boggling to me. I wish I had the BW skill that he has. Anyways, I was shooting this and thought that it would be a good BW, while processing I thought a lot about Ansel and as I looked up at his work that I have hanging I thought – boy do I miss him. Anyways here is a BW, I dont do much BW as I tend to like more vibrant colorful HDR. Hope you enjoy.by Chris Lehman
What we have here is what space might look like. The elements in this shot to me were just fascinating. What is your favorite aspect here?by Chris Lehman
At the Johnson Space Center in Houston (Mission Control) you can take tours of a few things. They throw you in line, take your picture for security reasons (as well as monetary) then drive you to whichever tour you decide. I went to mission control thinking that it was going to a site to see…boy was I wrong it was very lack luster. However on the back side of the tour they take you by garden of trees – one planted for every astronaut lost, they stop the trolly and play a clip from former president Bush and then ask for a moment of silence. After that they take to you a huge facility with this….and this….was well worth it for me.by Chris Lehman
While in Nashville, my good friends Vince and Heather got to spend the whole weekend together. It was a a great time and they were very accommodating for me – never complaining about me dragging them all over to shoot – for me it was an all around great weekend. I remember they both suggested that we go to the roof/lounge as sunsets sometimes are amazing there – this is what we were greeted with and they were right. As I looked up at the sky I thought about all that is going on with life and the sky seemed to showing things I was feeling, it is very hard to explain. Anyways here is one that came out of it. I hope you enjoy.by Chris Lehman
I took this shot a few weeks ago recreating one of my favorites that I shot a while ago (I have many favorites :))
I used a different translation and a few other elements – and I really like the way that it came out.
1 Corinthians 13
1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.by Chris Lehman
Well, I have not been able to get out and shoot as much as I would like, however I wanted to post a quick one from a few weeks back when I went to Nashville to see some of my good friends. This sunset was a beauty and I am glad that I got to witness it. I hope that you enjoy as well.by Chris Lehman
I love a lot of things – the ocean is one of them. I had planned on going to Cincinnati Museum Center today and shooting, plans changed and went to Newport Aquarium – here is a quick shot that I snapped. Not what I normally shoot and inside at an aquarium is a challenge to shoot – thoughts? You can even see the scratches in the glass :)by Chris Lehman
When reading to my kids there is a story called “Paddington” about an orphaned bear. It is quite the story let me tell ya! In the middle of Sprinter (yes sprinter – cross between spring and winter because Ohio weather is redunkulous) it is more of a challenge to shoot things that I normally shoot and love to shoot. My good friend Jeremi hooked me up with some lights about 6 months ago – to which I have not gotten any stands – why you ask? Simple – Chris does not shoot a lot of things that need light. So while being a bit bored and trying to get out of my comfort zone I bought the stands and now am challenging myself to get better using them. It was also mentioned to use stuffed animals for practice as they are easier than finding models (though if you are reading this and want to model for me please let me know!) so I grabbed this bear – missing nose and all and quickly dubbed him paddington. Snuggle up – I plan on shooting a lot of things using these lights – not all will be good but I will share them so you track my progress. But I promise I will also be shooting what you are used to seeing me shoot – good old landscape among others and HDR. Until then – what do you think of paddington?by Chris Lehman
