    • Jun 24thShrimpin’

      Todays Photo
This is from Crosby’s shrimp company in Charleston South Carolina. This was the first time that I really shot anything more than a snap shot from Charleston and think that it was a great trip. I am planning to go back there on a photography only trip.

      Shooting a lot lately!
So I have been shooting a lot lately, not of what I normally shoot, however I have been have a ton of fun with it. I have shot everything from Weddings to remote control airplanes to babies however I have not shot ANY landscapes or HDR as of late??? I might have to get back to that real soon.

      Suggestions??
As I am trying to build this – whatever it is and whatever it is to become – if you have suggestions of things you would like to see shot please feel free to let us know. I cant say that I will take the exact shot if you are detailed, however I will entertain and try to shoot my best a subject matter or location. I never take a shot that someone suggest if they are detailed to it, I would rather get inspiration from hearing a location or subject and then shoot that as there are no expectations to meet. I also like to find things that most people would not think to shoot and try to make that artistic.

Today’s Photo – The looking Glass
This is one that I really want to go back and take again. After looking at it and processing it I really have other ideas for shooting. I cant wait to get back and shoot this location again – in case you are not sure it is Folly Beach – South Carolina.

    • May 20thBasket Weaver

One of my most favorite places to visit is Charleston, South Carolina. If I could move tomorrow and live there I would. The heritage that they have there runs deep, every where you go you can find some history. I can remember going there as a kid, going downtown to the open air market and seeing these wonderfully talented people weaving baskets. Not just ordinary baskets – Sweet Grass Baskets.

If you would like to read a bit more on these I have provided two links -

      Sweet Grass Overview
      Sweet Grass History

This photo was taken at Patriots Point Naval Museum, I have never seen a weaver setup shop there, this was the first time and let me tell you she was not happy about getting this picture taken…

I pulled this out of the archives. I think that I took this a few years ago. It is not my typical shot, this is before my HDR days and before I really was shooting seriously. Though when going through my albums I found this one and there as something about it that was interesting. This is in Charleston South Carolina at Patriots Point museum. If you have never gotten to go there I would highly recommend it. I have another idea for shooting this, cant wait to get back to try it again now.

    • Mar 3rdLets go shrimping

This was taken at Crosby’s Shrimp company on the way to Folly Beach SC. This place is right off Folly road as you head towards the beach and is a great place to stop and shoot. There are a lot of places in Charleston like this, I will move there one day if I can.

    • Mar 2ndSunset from one of my favorite places to go

This shot of the Ravenel Bridge was taken at the MT. Pleasant Pier in August of 2011. We had spent an entire day at the USS Yorktown and took the kids over to the park there. It is truly a wonderful place and if you have never been there I would highly suggest that you visit. The entire facility is just splendid.

      Technical detail – this was a handheld 3 shot HDR from -2, 0, +2.

    • Feb 26thOcean Storm

This was taken during a storm at Folly Beach Fishing Pier in August. The storm swelled in from the sea and made for very dramatic skies and added some wonderful lightening. Originally I was going to crop or clone out the fella taking the picture on the tripod but thought that it added life and character to shot so I kept it in there.

    • Jan 29thThe Thunder Rolls…

We were at the US Naval Museum in Charleston South Carolina, we were on the flight deck of this carrier. I remember vividly – why you ask? Because I had a broken foot from Thai Boxing. So there I was in wheel chair because that is what they give guys that hobble in on cruches…

Anyways, when it was first decided to go there I was thinking – ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I dont want to hobble around a carrier that I have seen numerous times with a broken foot. Well, the kids wanted to go, so I went. And it was AWESOME. I normally get to spend most of my time with my oldest son but on this day he wanted to go and read everything and my youngest did not really care to be there. So I stayed with him while mom took the oldest. We had a blast. He pushed me around all over that thing – he had a blast. We went out and looked at the harbor, I let him use my camera to take photos, he then pushed me to the complete other side – only running my broken foot in things 7 or 8 times along the way – I would not trade this time with him for anything.

He got to the point that he wanted to go, so him and I took off and went back to shore. When my oldest and mom finally got there we decide to look at the base on land. As I turned around this storm rolled in so fast and this is what it looked like – sorry for the long post :)

    • Jan 11thRide in to the Danger Zone

Who doesn’t absolutely love the 80′s movies? Especially TopGun?? I know I do :)

Who doesn’t love a mighty F14 TomCat Fighter? I took this HDR handheld and pp it with almost a painting look and feel. Some do not like this type of processing, but I really liked how it turned out. This was taken atop of the USS Yorktown in Charleston South Carolina via the Naval Museum at Patriots Point.

    • Jan 10thYou have my heart

This is one of those shots that just happened. It was not setup for this. While at the Morris Lighthouse in Folly Beach SC, my oldest son and I were walking along. I had an idea to shoot a few shadows. I took one with him looking up at me, me looking up at him then asked him to give me a hug. As we embraced this tender father/son moment revealed itself in the shadows. As I looked up I noticed that his face and head on mine created a heart shape and I was lucky enough to capture it. I thank God that he allowed it to happen and even more for me to capture it.

    • Dec 28thAs the wind blows

While painfully hobbling along the sand – why you ask? I had a broken foot :) – while walking to the Morris Island lighthouse at Folly Beach I stopped to look at all the lovely scenes that were there. I remember looking out to the ocean, feeling the wind and just enjoying being there. My focus turned to something that was closer and blowing in the wind – I can almost feel it while typing.

    • Dec 27thCluttered Mess

Well, if you are like us the house is a cluttered mess after Christmas. Having two kids it looks as if a toy store somewhat exploded. What used to be the toy room was already packed, so now the other rooms have become sanctuaries for the new members of the toy family. In honor of that, this root system was spied while in Charleston South Carolina. We headed out to see the Light House at the end of Folly Beach – Morris Island Light House. The cluttered mess of roots was sitting there like an entangled fish net. I found it interesting and this is what I came up with.

    • Nov 29thGod’s Light From Our Point Of View

God’s light is beaming through. I took this this year in Charleston South Carolina, I remember taking this vividly, I was walking across the lawn to washrooms, I turned around to see this absolute beautiful scene. I turned right around, hobbled back to the truck as fast I could (my foot was broken at the time), grabbed my tripod and camera and went back to shoot this. This was one of the images that I shot.
